The 6th Polymer Emulsion Professional Conference Closing in Nanjing

The 6th Polymer Emulsion Professional Technical Conference sponsored by China Adhesive Industry Association was successfully held in Jinling Star Hotel in Nanjing from May 26th to 28th, 2008. The conference received extensive attention from the nation's emulsion polymer manufacturers, application manufacturers, and raw material suppliers. More than 140 participants attended the conference, nearly 40% more than the fifth session in 2006.
China Adhesive Industry Association has made meticulous preparations and arrangements for this conference. The meeting was first reported by Mr. Gong Yifan, Secretary General of China Adhesive Industry Association, “Status and Development Trend of Polymer Emulsion in Mainland China”. The polymer emulsions reported by Secretary-General Gong include polyacrylate emulsion (PAE), polyvinyl acetate emulsion (PVAC), ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion (VAE), and polyurethane emulsion (PU). He detailed the domestic manufacturers of various types of emulsions in 2007, their production and application fields, and introduced the import and export of various types of emulsions in 2007. At the same time, the production technology level and product quality level of China's polymer emulsions are also analyzed and put forward for the next 5 years. China's emulsion polymer will still be predicted to grow at an annual growth rate of more than 10%. He particularly emphasized that high-tech and special-performance products will accelerate development. These new technologies and new products include composite polymer emulsions, emulsifier-free emulsions, cross-linked emulsions at low temperature and room temperature, high-solids emulsions, and residual monomer emulsions. In order to combine the current concept of environmental protection in the adhesive industry, the association has specifically focused on the research report on environmentally friendly emulsion adhesives. Dr. Qian Zhiguo of Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry introduced the progress of the research and development of industrial waterborne polyurethane adhesives, especially the achievements and existing problems in the development and application of adhesives for shoes, and also briefly introduced The industrialization process of waterborne polyurethane in the hospital's pilot base in Hebei. Dr. Lin Huayu of Foshan Nanhai Baoli Chemical Products Co., Ltd. described how to solve the environmental problems of rubber used in the footwear industry, and pointed out that water-based polyurethane adhesives will replace existing solvent-based products in the coming years as the main varieties of adhesives for footwear. Waterborne polyurethane adhesives also have problems with the surface wetting of the shoe material during use. Before the bonding, the surface treatment of the shoe material must be performed to achieve the desired effect. However, the treatment agent is basically solvent-based, and it also pollutes the environment and damages. The health of industrial workers. In response to this problem, Dr. Lin proposed a surface irradiation technology and achieved an ideal adhesion effect, providing a very good solution for the complete environmental protection of the footwear industry. Dr. Wang Chunpeng of Chinese Academy of Forestry made a report on the study of acrylate complex emulsions. He introduced cellulose derivatives-acrylate polymer emulsion, carboxymethyl cellulose protective colloid emulsion, and silicone. The synthetic method and theoretical analysis of acrylic ester-based miniemulsion, emulsion of rosin and acrylic acid, and polyurethane-acrylate composite emulsion, and its application in the field of adhesives, etc., have opened up new ideas for the in-depth development and application of emulsions. Prof. Shiqiang Huang of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Hubei University also reported on the structure and properties of silicone-acrylate microemulsions. The synthesis conditions and properties of the microemulsion were discussed in depth. Professor Xia Yuzheng of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Beijing University of Chemical Technology introduced the technical bottlenecks and breakthroughs of plastic water-based composite adhesives, and discussed in detail the issues that must be solved in the development of plastic-plastic adhesives for water emulsion acrylate copolymers. The solution to the problem was widely concerned by the participants. Liu Bingbo, director of the Beijing Institute of Organic Chemicals, and Ms Tao Qiong from Northwest Yongxin Group Co., Ltd. introduced the research, application, and market conditions of the VAE emulsion.
Another hot issue at the conference was the development of VAE redispersible latex powder. Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Factory and Shanxi Three-dimensional Group have brought development achievements in this area and answered questions on product quality, market sales and other concerns. We are gratified to see that after several years of development, our VAE redispersible latex powder has sold from less than 5,000 tons in 2003 to 50,000 tons in 2007, and will have even greater development in the coming years. At the same time product quality has also reached the level of similar foreign products.

Han Yi, Asia Technical Service Manager of Celanese China, introduced us to the introduction of WACKER's environment-friendly adhesive application solutions to high-performance solid wood glue emulsions, Dr. Jay Kim and Ms. Xiong Yuyu of WACKER Polymers. The general manager of the association, Shanghai Changde Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. Mr. Zhao Qinglai, introduced a new type of emulsifier from Cytec, and introduced the new emulsion preservative. In addition, Li Wei, general manager of Beijing Nawei Hengrun Technology Co., Ltd., introduced a new type of waterborne nanomaterials used in emulsion adhesives. After the meeting. Most representatives said that emulsion polymers have made great progress in recent years. Through the exchanges and learning of everyone, they can grasp the industry dynamics and information in a timely manner, broaden their horizons, enhance understanding, and strengthen cooperation, contributing to the development of China's emulsion polymer industry.
