Chinese customs authorities on August 1 represents the first half of this year and seized nearly one million tons of illegally imported trash. This is part of China’s action against smuggling of foreign garbage. The General Administration of Customs has made combating foreign garbage smuggling a major focus of this year's work.
Earlier, China announced that it would ban the import of 24 kinds of waste including plastics . In an operation known as “Guomen Lijian 2018 â€, the Chinese Customs Department focused on combating foreign waste, endangered species trading and tax evasion by bulk importers.
According to the notice of the General Administration of Customs, 276 cases of waste smuggling were detected in the first half of this year , an increase of 89% year-on-year , and the waste involved reached 987,900 tons. The General Administration of Customs also said that in the first six months of this year , it had seized 963 smuggling cases involving a total amount of RMB 20.33 billion. One of the biggest cases was a Shanghai company smuggling 313,500 tons of steel slag.
In a separate notice dated July 31 , the General Administration of Customs said that Harbin Customs recently seized a Russian container truck containing rare animal products, including antelope horns, whale teeth and mammoth ivory from the melting tundra of Siberia. Etc. The case value reached 106 million yuan, the largest such case uncovered in recent years.
Say no to the "foreign garbage". For China, it will inevitably be a protracted war. The illegal elements inside and outside China will obviously not let this "fat" stop. This "long-lasting war" without smoke is China's decision, and those who want to use their brains are better off.
