British architecture continues to captivate us with its creativity and innovation. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has just announced the 49 projects that will be honored this year. The shortlist for the RIBA National Awards 2017 showcases a diverse range of styles, purposes, and locations, with one of these projects set to win the prestigious Stirling Prize later this year. Starting our list is Fallahogey Studios in Kilrea, Northern Ireland, designed by McGarry-Moon Architects. This project is a perfect blend of simplicity and elegance, featuring an abundance of natural light and a fresh, open feel. It's no surprise it received recognition.
Next up is 8 Finsbury Circus, a stunning architectural work by Wilkinson Eyre. The interplay of light, the unique floor design, and the one-of-a-kind bench make this building truly remarkable.
The Victoria Gate Arcades project by ACME is another highlight. Designed with an emphasis on exclusivity, every detail—from the roof to the lighting and flooring—has been thoughtfully crafted. It’s more than just beautiful shop windows; it's a complete design experience.
Our next pick is Walmer Yard by Peter Salter—a unique residential development that took over 13 years to design. This intricate maze of townhouses offers hidden corridors, unexpected surprises, and endless opportunities for exploration. A true gem among the RIBA award-winning projects.
Last but not least is No. 49 by 31/44 Architects. This contemporary home is a masterclass in elegance and refinement, blending modern aesthetics with a sense of harmony and sophistication.
