As manufacturers launch oscilloscope products, how to differentiate products becomes very important. Agilent Technologies (Agilent) introduces two new series of portable high-performance oscilloscopes, including the Infiniium S-series and the InfiniiVision 6000 X-series, all featuring next-generation oscilloscope technology, the former offering up to 8 GHz bandwidth and the latter providing up to 6 GHz Bandwidth, through cost-effective features, to achieve market segmentation of competitive products.
Jay Alexander, vice president and general manager of the Agilent Oscilloscope Protocol Division, points out that the Infiniium S series has the fastest 10-bit ADC. Compared to traditional oscilloscopes with 8-bit ADCs, the S Series offers up to four times higher vertical resolution, allowing engineers to view signal details more accurately. In addition, the S Series is equipped with a new low noise front end that provides more than 8 effective number of bits (ENOB).
The Infiniium S series offers a bandwidth from 500MHz to 8GHz. Users can choose from 4 channels of DSO models or 16 digital channels of MSO models. The oscilloscopes come standard with 50Mpts or 100Mpts of memory per channel and are the industry's deepest oscilloscope memory in interleaved mode.
The S-Series also features the industry's most comprehensive application-specific measurement software, supported by a high-performance motherboard with 8GB of RAM, ensuring that the oscilloscope maintains optimal response in all operating modes. Its Solid State Drive (SSD) supports fast boot times and greater reliability, while the industry's largest 15-inch (38.1 cm) multi-touch capacitive touch screen makes it easier for engineers to view results, and Easy to control.
As for the InfiniiVision 6000 X series, it is the industry's first oscilloscope to offer a 6GHz bandwidth, which is less than half the price of a comparable-band wide-band oscilloscope. The series is available in 2 and 4 channel DSO models and 16 digital channel MSO models, both with 1GHz to 6GHz bandwidth and 20 GS/s sampling rate. The InfiniiVision 6000 X-Series oscilloscopes are lightweight, weighs only 6.8 kilograms and weigh only 15 centimeters, making them one-third of their class, setting a new standard for portability of multi-GHz bandwidth oscilloscopes.
Jay Alexander believes that oscilloscope products are available at home, and depending on the different technical capabilities, each product will have a difference in performance. The key is who can provide greater integration, make the product smaller, and have more performance in one.
